The Green Book Journey Pilot Program is a four month long experiential journey designed by Dr. Trudi L. Perkins exclusively for Momentum Consulting Firm to assist individuals, corporate organizations and educational institutions in doing the complex work associated with becoming effective change-makers amidst these challenging times. By creating a unique fusion of coaching and critical learning approaches, The Green Book Journey provides participants and their organizations with the valuable knowledge and skills necessary for building and cultivating personal change that becomes a driving force for equality and inclusion in professional and educational spaces. The Green Book Journey offers three tracks for learning: 1) Individual/Organic Cohorts 2) Leadership Track and 3) Educator / Practitioner Track.
The Green Book Journey to Racism Awareness consists of Four Modules that take participants through multiple levels of learning and inquiry. They engage in facilitated learning that encourages self-interrogation of personal perspectives and incorporates practices to interrupt negative thoughts and behaviors as they emerge in daily lived experiences. Green Book Journey participants will learn to do deep critical examination of these experiences which often show up as racial and social judgements of others and begin to shift their thoughts and behaviors toward equality and inclusion.
This transformative experience goes beyond the usual efforts at empathy-building and facilitates the ability to use information and knowledge more effectively. Participants learn to understand and interrogate their personal beliefs and ideologies and the impact it has on their view of the world. Participants will also begin identifying and building practices to interrupt self-sabotaging tendencies that result in their perpetuation of harmful actions against others.
Participants and organizations that take part in the pilot program are provided with access to curated learning processes and coaching services that help to facilitate their journey to equality, awareness and change at a fraction of the normal cost. Organizations will have the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to a socially and racially just society by receiving the designation as a Green Book Organization. They can choose to be listed in our registry of Green Book Organizations that have completed the full program and are actively using the skills and knowledge from this program. The four modules of The Green Book Journey are listed below:
Leveraging the transformative benefits of Positive Intelligence ™, participants learn to wield the power of positivity on personal behavior and habits of thought by building consistent practice of interrupting negativity. The focus is on learning to intercept and redirect negative behaviors toward equitable and inclusive outcomes.
The focus of this module is on identifying the impact judgements have on the self and others. Experience the power that comes with unraveling the unconscious emotions and perceptions that lead to negative self-talk, and also leads to judging others and potentially developing into racist behaviors.
This module focuses on incorporating cutting-edge approaches to awareness and growth by engaging participants in learning to apply critical thinking skills as an integral part of the growth and development process.
Close attention is given to expanding the critical role of empathy, emphasizing that while it is a crucial starting point, it is not the culmination of the journey. Participants will learn to avoid the "empathy" trap, preventing it from morphing into sympathy or apathy, thereby, ensuring sustained growth and heightened awareness of their potential contributions to perpetuating racism. The goal is to help participants recognize the way that empathy evolves into a powerful, active catalyst for lasting change.
This module includes an intensive practice with reinforcing critical thinking skills and applying them to the discourse of today's social challenges.
This 30-day journey invites you to use your daily lived experiences as a guide to actively explore and interact with racism awareness, examine equality and inclusion as it intersects with your daily life.
This module helps participants to critically challenge any existing impulses or practices of conflating, or outright denying the presence of racism in individual, systemic and /or structural contexts. Participants will put into active daily practice the critical thinking and positive intelligence insights they have gained in Modules 1 and 2. Active practice transforms learning into an important compass for navigating the daily complexities of the present societal challenges. Additionally, it makes room for specifically recognizing the pervasive impact of racism on historically marginalized communities.
Your fourth and final module of The Green Book Journey Coaching Program, is a reflective culmination where you will assess your profound journey and strategize for sustained growth in racism awareness. Drawing on the Positive Intelligence (TM) practices and speculative approaches used throughout, you will spend time reflecting on the capacity and stamina you have learned to embrace and the resilience you have called upon through this transformative self-growth journey.
Delving into introspection, you'll explore ways to expand and apply your racial insights productively and map your plans for challenging yourself to shift your perspectives beyond empathy. This reflective phase encourages you to see yourself within the broader picture of racism, acknowledging the roles that you may consciously or unconsciously play; and exploring mind-shifts and behavior changes that will help you to continue your positive trajectory toward helping to end racism.
Your journey will culminate with examining how to build a consistent practice of awareness and action that sees racism not only from the standpoint of historically oppressed racial groups but also in ways that help you to embrace a new practice that interrogates how individuals, structures, and systems perpetuate racism.
